Health Checkups for Three- and Four-Month-Olds

Individual notification will be mailed (to undergo the checkup at four months of age).

As a rule, the second and fourth Wednesdays from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m.

Health Checkups for Six- and Seven-Month-Olds and Health Checkups for Nine- and Ten-Month-Olds

Individual notification will be mailed (enclosed in the notification for health checkups for three- and four- month-olds)

Baby Visits

A midwife or public health nurse will visit the homes of all newborns and offer advice about the growth of the baby, general childrearing matters and the mother’s physical and mental health. If you give birth, please file a baby visit notification (childbirth notification slip) as soon as possible. Notifications are accepted by telephone as well.

Immunizations

BCG (Tuberculosis)

No later than the day before the first birthday

DPT-IPV, First Term (Pertussis, Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Inactive Polio)

First time

Between three months of age and the day before the child reaches seven years and six months of age
Information is enclosed with the notification for the health checkup for three- and four-month-olds.

Booster

No later than the day before the child reaches seven years and six months, leaving an interval of one year or eighteen months from completion of the first-time immunizations of the first term

DT, Second Term (Diphtheria and Tetanus)

Between 11 years of age and before the child reaches 13 years of age
Notification is mailed when the child is in the sixth grade of elementary school

Measles-Rubella (MR) Combination

First term

Between one year of age and the day before the child reaches two years of age
Notification is mailed in the month the child turns one year old

Second term

In the year before entrance to elementary school
Notification is mailed the year before entrance to elementary school

Japanese Encephalitis, First Term

First time

Between six months of age and the day before the child reaches seven years and six months of age
Information is enclosed with the notification for the health checkup for three-year-olds

Booster

No later than the day before the child reaches seven years and six months, leaving an interval of about one year from the completion of the first-time immunizations
Notifications are mailed in the month the child reaches four years old

Japanese Encephalitis, Second Term

Between nine years of age and the day before the child reaches thirteen years of age
Notifications are mailed in the month the child reaches nine years of age

Hib Vaccine

Between two months of age and the day before the child reaches the age of five
Information is enclosed with the notification for the health checkup for three- and four-month-olds

Pediatric Pneumococcal Vaccine

Between two months of age and the day before the child reaches the age of five
Information is enclosed with the notification for the health checkup for three- and four-month-olds

Cervical Cancer Prevention Vaccine

Girls between the sixth grade of elementary school and the first year of high school (Currently, this vaccine is not actively recommended.)

Chicken Pox

Between one year of age and the day before the child reaches three years of age

Hepatitis B Vaccine

Children under one year old born on or after April 1, 2016 (no later than the day before the child reaches 1 year of age)

Medical Subsidies for Single-Parent Families

Subsidies for the personally borne expense for insurance-covered medical treatment are available for children up to the end of the fiscal year in which they turned 18 years of age (under 20 years of age for children with a designated level of disability), who do not have either a father or mother, or if their father or mother has a serious level of disability. These subsidies are given to the single parent or guardian. Income restrictions apply for the applicant and family members living in the same household.
